Features
Everything about your money, in one place
Built for people whose money is spread across countries, currencies and kinds of assets.
Net worth, every currency
Bank accounts, cash, property, businesses, retirement funds, index funds and crypto wallets, converted daily at published reference rates.
Transactions that sort themselves
Bank feeds, CSV import with duplicate checks, and rules that learn from your corrections. Every merchant gets its own page.
Where the money goes
Spending by category and merchant, work income against investment income, your savings rate, and every subscription we can spot.
Your freedom number
How much you need invested to stop working, measured against your spending and against your salary, with a projected crossover date.
Goals and pay-day flows
Set savings goals, decide where each pay goes in priority order, and tick off the transfers from a checklist.
Company expenses
Paid for something the company owes you? Tag it, bundle it into a claim, and send an email, a printable report with receipts, or a CSV.
Cut costs
Mark recurring costs to cancel, downgrade or replace with something cheaper, and see what you'll save each month and year.
Receipts and merchants
Attach receipts to transactions, keep notes and websites for the places you buy from, and find them again by search.
Ready for tax time
Income by type, deductible expenses and tax years for Australia, Portugal and the Philippines, exported as a CSV for your accountant.
Built for households
Invite your partner as an owner, editor or viewer. People and tax residency are tracked separately from logins.
An assistant, if you want one
Ask questions about your money and get answers from your own numbers. Off until you turn it on, and it never changes anything without asking.
API and MCP
Personal API keys, read-only or read and write, for scripts, spreadsheets and AI assistants that support MCP.
Freedom
Know when work becomes optional
Your freedom number is what you'd need invested for its returns to cover your life. We show it two ways: against what you actually spend, and against your salary, so you can see both the floor and the goal.
- Investment income and work income, side by side, every month
- Retirement funds shown with and without, since you can't touch them yet
- A projected crossover date from your real savings rate

Company expenses
Get paid back without the spreadsheet
Tag anything you paid for that your company owes you. Bundle it into a claim, open a drafted email to your finance team, and attach a printable report with the receipts or a CSV. Mark it paid when the money arrives, and it never counts as your own spending or income.
Security
Your data is walled off, even from us
Each household's data is isolated by the database itself, not just by app code. Two-factor sign-in is required for everyone, sensitive fields are encrypted with keys kept outside the database, and you can export or delete everything.

Questions
Good to know
Does it move my money?
No. It reads balances and transactions. Transfers stay with you: the app gives you a checklist and ticks items off when it sees the money move.
Which banks does it connect to?
Bank feeds come through a bank data provider that covers Australia, New Zealand, the UK, much of Europe and more. Anything else comes in by CSV, and assets like property or a business take a manual valuation.
Do I have to use AI?
No. AI features are off for every workspace until an owner turns them on. When they're on, account numbers, tax ids and wallet addresses are never sent.
Is this financial advice?
No. Shortbread is an information tool, provided as is. Its figures, projections and AI answers are estimates from the data you give it. Check important numbers yourself and talk to a qualified professional before you make financial or tax decisions.
Can my partner use it too?
Yes. A workspace is shared, and each member is an owner, an editor or a viewer.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes. Export everything as JSON or your transactions as CSV at any time, and delete your workspace whenever you like.
Start with one account. Add the rest as you go.
It takes a few minutes to set up, and you can invite your partner later.
